Parents notified about bomb threat at Arizona high school
Parents of Buena High School students in Sierra Vista, Arizona were notified about a bomb incident that would take place on August 3, the first day of school, but the superintendent did not plan to close the school.
SIERRA VISTA, Arizona (Sierra Vista Herald) August 3, 2010 -- Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona has received a bomb threat that warned staff about an incident that would take place August 3, on the first day of school.
Parents of Buena students were notified about the threat from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. August 2.
The school will not be closed August 3 and the district was working with the Sierra Vista Police Department and the Fort Huachuca Bomb Squad to ensure students are safe, the superintendent said.
In his experience, these types of threats have always turned out to just be threats, but that does not mean staff is not taking it seriously.
The school will still take a variety of additional precautions and has informed all staff members at the school about the situation, the superintendent said. "Every threat is credible, and we take them all seriously."
